happy cliché #1: it’s a phase

By ck

It’s a phase, it will pass.

In other words, my three year old will one day sleep through the night.

My three year old will one day listen to my response of “yes” before throwing a fit as if I said “no.”

My three year old will one day eat her dinner in < or = to 30 minutes.

My three year old will one day take the time to wipe herself, really wipe herself. (And I can stop stuffing spare toilet paper in my back pocket.)

My three year old will one day only be remembered as the smiling, compliant child in the pictures I doctored up and saved in her photo album.

My three year old will one day be four and “all growed up.”

Her thirty-year-old mom will one day be “all growed up” too and realize that if she weren’t as headstrong as her child, she’d probably laugh a lot more because her three-year old is apparently just like her.

(Minus the wiping thing.

I swear.

Seriously.

No, I do know how to wipe.

I DO.

Fine.

It took one UTI, but I did finally get it right.)
